Spanish nationals being repatriated on charter flight Thursday



KATHMANDU: Spanish nationals stuck in Nepal will be repatriated by chartered flight Thursday.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has given permission for a Spanish wide-body A330 aircraft to land at Tribhuvan International Airport and fly back Spanish and European Union nationals here in Nepal.

Raj Kumar Chhetri, Deputy Director-General and Spokesperson of CAAN, said a Spanish flight will come to Kathmandu from Madrid, the capital of Spain, with medical supplies and will return with Spanish and some European citizens. About 40 Spaniards in Nepal are waiting to return home.

The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has been facilitating the repatriation of foreign nationals from different countries who have been stranded in Nepal. The board has been collecting the details of foreign nationals in tourist areas and various places of Nepal. And it is informing the embassies of the countries concerned and giving the details of the tourists to embassies to carry out necessary repatriation.
