Process to establish Nuclear Research Center moves ahead



KATHMANDU: Letters of intent from six companies have been selected to move forward with the country’s nuclear program.

They were selected for the construction of a Nuclear Research Center, one of the first kinds in Nepal.

The company has been selected by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) of the Nuclear Research Center listed as the first priority and included in the policy, program, and budget of the current fiscal year.

The names of the selected companies have not been made public yet.

Joint Secretary of the Ministry and Chief of the Atomic Materials Management Division under the Ministry Rajendra Prasad Khanal said that the company selection process has moved ahead to formulate the DPR of the Atomic Research Center to be set up to study and research the possible nuclear materials and related technologies in the country.
