Police use force to disperse agitating lawyers in SC



KATHMANDU: Police have used force on agitating lawyers who were staging a sit-in in front of the Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday.

The agitating lawyers of the Nepal Bar Association have been demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

The lawyers, who had on Wednesday gave an ultimatum to Chief Justice Rana to resign within three days, had tried to block an alternative gate of the Supreme Court to bar Chief Justice Rana from entering the court.

The lawyers even clashed with the police.

Bar President Chandeshwar Shrestha and Prakash Maharjan, a central member of the Nepal Bar, were also injured in the clash.

Police in riot gear stormed a demonstration on Thursday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.
