KATHMANDU: The Constitutional Court is hearing on a writ petition against the government’s decision to sell stone, ballast and sand in the Chure area on Friday afternoon.
A bench comprising Justices Deepak Karki, Meera Khadka, Harikrishna Karki and Vishwambhar Prasad Shrestha has been constituted under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana is to hear the writ petition.
The writ petitioner has demanded to explain the validity of the budget for the fiscal year 2021/22 as the government has brought the budget of the fiscal year 2021/22 through an ordinance by dissolving the parliament.
On its 199th point in the budget introduced by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, the budget has stated the government’s policy of reducing the trade-deficit of the country by excavating the river products, stones, ballast and sand in the Chure area.
The writ petition filed by seven lawyers including senior advocates Dinesh Tripathi, Dr. Punya Prasad Khatiwada has sought interim order to deter the excavation of the Chure region.
