Chitrakar’s ‘Thoughts and Musings’ launched

KATHMANDU: Artist and writer Madan Chitrakar’s ‘Thoughts and Musings’ has been made public here today.

Mayor at Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Bidya Sundar Shakya unveiled the book amid a program at Srijana College of Fine Arts. Mayor Shakya said it was challenging for the artists to reflect the current contexts in their art while equally challenging was conserving the cultural treasures through art and artworks.

Similarly, Siddhartha Art Gallery’s proprietor Sangita Thapa said the newly launched book had attempted to unravel various aspects and dynamics of Nepali art and cultures.

She underscored the need to conduct research on the artworks and the paintings hung in the 38 palaces that were built during various times.

Likewise, Poonam RL Rana viewed that the book would be very useful to learn about Nepali art and artists.

The author of the book Chitrakar said that the book was published with a view of archiving various aspects of Nepali arts.

Srijana College of Fine Arts President Mahen Mohan Shrestha shared that similar types of books would be launched in the future shedding light on various arts that existed in the country.

Written in English, the book illustrates various styles in the Nepali art sector, movements, ideologies, tradition, artists, and their works.
