KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to hold its 14th General Convention from August 23 to 26 in Kathmandu.
A meeting of the party’s central committee on Wednesday held at the party central office at Sanepa endorsed the proposal of party President Sher Bahadur Deuba and party senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel to hold its 14th general convention in August, party’s Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said.
Senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel had earlier insisted that the general convention should be held in May.
However, the decision to propose the general convention was made following an agreement between party senior leader Poudel and NC President Deuba.
As per the party statute, the term of the Central Committee has been extended by six months by suspending the article of the statute after the five-year term ends on March 3.
