Fair price shops operating from today



KATHMANDU: Fair price shops have started operating in the Kathmandu valley targeting the festive season — Dashain, Tihar and Chhat — from today.

Food and Management Trading Company (FMTCL)  Ltd  is opening fair price shops in association with Salt Trading Corporation (STC) and Dairy Development Corporation (DDC).

The food trading company has given discounts on pulses, rice, flour, beaten rice, oil, salt, buckwheat, bean and goats from the discount store. STC has given discounts on food items including salt and sugar while DDC has given discounts on ghee and cheese.

Outlets will remain open at four places including Thapathali and Surya Binayak in the Kathmandu Valley. Similarly, Salt Trading will operate discount stores in six places in the Kathmandu Valley including Kalimati, Koteshwor, Satungal, Jawalakhel and Bhaktapur.

Similarly, three mobile services will be operated, said Kumar Raj Bhandari, spokesperson of the corporation. Similarly, the food trading company has stated that it will deliver food items to the homes of the consumers through online concessions.
