UML Nepal-Khanal faction’s conclave to set strategy for 3 months

KATHMANDU: The ongoing National Conclave of the ruling CPN-UML Nepal-Khanal faction is preparing the party’s strategy for coming three months, the UML sources said.

The disgruntled UML faction has called a national conclave on March 17-18 to discuss the current political crisis and the measures the party has to adopt to overcome it.

According to erstwhile Nepal-faction leader Ganga Lal Tuladhar, participants in the conclave are divided into 10 groups to discuss the agenda set by the party.

“Once the discussion in each group is over, each group will submit their conclusion to the party meeting on Thursday,” Tuladhar said, adding, “The conclusions from group discussions will be discussed again to prepare the final strategy for the next three months.”

He added that the strategy will help to curb the party leadership’s autocratic move.

“Ensuring unity in the party, the conclave will make strategy against the autocratic and arbitrary actions taken by the party leadership esp. party Chairman and Prime Minister KP Oli,” Tuladhar said, hinting at the prospective outcome of the conclave. “The arrogance and arbitrariness of Chairman Oli has taken the party at the verge of split. The meeting will curb such moves.”

He cited that March 12 decision of Chairman KP Oli has further widened the rift in the party.

Tuladhar reiterated on the need to retain unity in the party and added that the conclave will come with substantive measures in the direction.
