Galchhi-Rasuwagadhi road project sees 65 percent work progress

KATHMANDU: The much-awaited Galchhi-Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi road project has so far made 65 percent work progress.

As the national pride project, the Galchhi-Rasuwagadhi road widening drive is gradually gaining momentum.

Project chief Narayan Dutta Bhandari shared that the task of breaking cliff and landslide control is gaining pace in the project site.

The progress of road construction and expansion drive was sluggish due to rainy season and COVID-19 pandemic, he said, adding the drive has gained momentum now.

“The Kalchaudibhir (a cliff) based in Belkotgadhi-7 was broken down after assiduous efforts of two years while the task of penetrating another cliff at Budhsinghghat is also on progress”, he said.

The physical work progress of the project has reached nearly 65 percent, he informed, adding the project has so far carried out determination of compensation of land, transfer of electric poles, demarcation of road area and removal of obstructions along the road section.

The construction of 82-km road connecting Devighat-Trishuli-Rasuwagadhi section with China’s entry point, Kerung, had started on 8 November 2016. It lies on the Prithvi Highway.

The government has set a target to complete the construction by 2023. RSS
