Chitwan festival from January 9, event will have less number of stalls

CHITWAN: The 13th edition of the Chitwan Mahotasav (festival) has been scheduled to be held on the bank of Narayani River from January 9 to 18.

The biannual event was suspended last year owing to COVID-19 crisis.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chitwan (CCIC) has decided to organise the festival with some restrictions bearing in mind the existing risk of infection. It means there will be a lesser number of business stalls in the festival unlike of previous years.

The Bharatpur Metropolis and the District Coordination Committee Chitwan will be taking the charge of mangers for the festival. A festival main organising committee has been formed under the coordination of CCIC President Raju Shrestha who says that the expo will feature 350 stalls this time.

The previous events would have above 500 stalls.

“We are bound to take precautions against the virus that’s why we will be having a lesser number of business outlets this time, “he added. Domestic products and those from neighbouring India, China, Pakistan and Bangladesh will be available in the festival.

Model houses depicting the cultural diversities, and stalls featuring the agriculture, tourism, art and culture will be the extra-attractions of the festival, it is said.

Over 200 thousand people are expected to visit the expo. A steering committee has been formed to organise the event systematically.
