Four cattle herders stranded in Rapti river rescued after 12 hrs

KATHMANDU: Security personnel have rescued four cattle herders stranded in the swollen Rapti river.

The cattle herders who were stranded at Bale Ghat in the Rapti River were rescued safely almost after 12 hours, said Dang Police.

A joint team of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police rescued them.

The rescued are 48-year-old Mansaram Chaudhary of Lamahi municipality-7, 45-year-old Sabitra and Radhe Yadav, 26, of Rajpur rural municipality-2, and Ganesh Yadav, 26, of Rajpur rural municipality-3, Pratpur, said Police Inspector Rajiv Shrestha of Area Police Office, Amiliya.

They were stranded after the level of Rapti river surged due to incessant rains while they were grazing their buffaloes in a small island of the river.
