How govt lied about Chinese oxygen cylinders

They are brought by businessmen, not donation

KATHMANDU: The government is found to have told a lie about the 18,000 oxygen cylinders procured from China.

According to sources, it has been revealed that 18,000 oxygen cylinders coming from China by land were not actually the donation from the Chinese government, rather they were brought by the businessmen.

Silk Transport Chairman and businessman Ramesh Sherpa, revealed that the businessmen have brought 18,000 cylinders from China for commercial purposes.

But the government officials had publicized it as the subsidized cylinder procured by the government.

According to sources, Ganesh Pandey, the press advisor to Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pakhrel, wrongly mentioned on Facebook saying that 18,000 oxygen cylinders donated by the Chinese government had arrived.

The Tatopani customs office also confirmed that the oxygen cylinders were not given as a subsidy by the Chinese government but were brought by traders.

Sherpa informed that the 7500 cylinders brought for commercial purposes have arrived at Khasa. He added that out of them, 2500 oxygen cylinders will reach Tatopani on Monday.
