Special Court starts final hearing on corruption case against ex-Minister Pandey



KATHMANDU: The Special Court has started a final hearing in the corruption case filed against former minister and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Bikram Pandey.

A bench comprising of Special Court Chairman Prem Raj Karki and Judges Abdul Aziz Musalman and Nityananda Pandey is hearing the case.

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case of Rs 8.5 billion against 21 people including Pandey on December 7, 2018, on the charge of corruption in the Sikta Irrigation Project.

The anti-graft body had charged them with using low-quality materials in the construction of the project.

Pandey, who was the Chief of CTCE Kalika Construction JV that was involved in the construction of the project, was released on a bail bond of Rs 40 million last year.
