The Basanta Panchami is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright half of the Hindu lunisolar calendar.

Generally, it falls on the month of Magha which typically falls in late January or February in the Gregorian calendar.

The festival is dedicated to goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, language, music, and all arts.

The goddess symbolizes creative energy and power in all its forms, including longing and love.
