KATHMANDU: Main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) is staging demonstrations in all 753 municipalities and rural municipalities against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Saturday.

A Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the NC held on January 3 had decided to hold protest rallies against HoR in 330 provincial constituencies on January 9, in 753 in municipalities and rural municipalities on January 16 and in 6,743 wards on January 21.

NC has already held demonstrations in constituencies and provincial constituencies on December 28 and January 9, respectively.

The NC has been staging demonstrations after Bidhya Bhandari dissolved the HoR on the recommendation of the Prime Minister on December 20.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged all the party rank and file to take to the streets at a time when the party is divided whether to go for fresh elections or for the reinstatement of the HoR.
