KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana on Monday said that the judiciary has always adhered to the rule of law.

“Attempts to derail the judiciary from outside have to be thwarted on the basis of unity,” he has said in a statement.

CJ Rana also said it is high time that the entire judiciary came together and undergo necessary introspection.

This is the first time that CJ Rana has formally issued a statement after the Nepal Bar lawyers and some SC justices have started protests demanding his resignation.

Expressing concern over the stalemate in the judiciary, Rana has reminded that the entire judiciary has been facing attempts to derail the legal process.

Chief Justice Rana has also called on the Bar Association to come for dialogue.

CJ Rana urged the agitating lawyers and the SC Bar Association to sit for dialogue, which he claimed was an “appropriate alternative” to end the stalemate.

In the statement, CJ Rana also expressed his readiness to take initiative to implement the reports, including that of the Judge Hari Krishna Karki for judicial reforms.
