‘Taliban wants inclusive govt for all Afghans, awaits peaceful transfer of power’



KATHMANDU: The Taliban, which has been expanding its hold over Afghanistan, has said it wants an inclusive government for all Afghans.

According to The Guardian, Taliban spokesman Muhammad Sohail Shaheen in an interview with the BBC, said they were waiting for a peaceful transfer of power. He also said the Taliban wanted an Islamic government in Afghanistan.

Shaheen said the Taliban would respect women and ensure their access to education and work. Also, women will be able to wear hijab.

He said that no one should have to leave the country, and that the Taliban government sought capable people’s participation from all corners of the world.
