KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, who is also the Federal Council Chairman of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), has floated a proposal to appoint a retired justice or a revered dignitary as the President.

Talking to Twitter, Dr Bhattarai said, “It would be better to go for the directly elected executive President since the roles and the efficiency of ceremonial presidents of the Republic Nepal were found ineffective and weak.”

Bhattarai suggested that a revered dignitary or a retired justice can be appointed as the President until the directly elected President is in place.
