KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader NP Saud has said his party would not tolerate the encroachment of even an inch of Nepali land.

Speaking at a protest rally against the dissolution of the House of Representatives at Khalanga, the district headquarters of Darchula, on Monday, Saud warned encroachment of an even inch of Nepali land would not be tolerated.

“There are activities at the border areas even now. The NC will protest against border encroachment,” he said.

He also lauded the nationalistic feelings of the people of Darchula who have been fighting for nationalism adding, “I want to salute the people of this district who have been safeguarding the Nepali land.”

He also raised concern over the government’s apathy when the Chinese side encroached on Nepali land in Humla.

“You amended the constitution to include the revised map of Nepal when there was a border dispute with India,” he criticized the government and the Nepal Communist Party, adding, “However, you remained quiet when Chinese encroached Nepali land.”

He also alleged the NCP leaders for provoking the people by organizing mass meetings while blaming India for encroaching the border. “But why did you not utter a single word when China encroached the border in Hulma district?” he asked.

In yet another context, leader Saud said that his party would accept the verdict of the Supreme Court on the issue of dissolution of the House of Representatives. “The Nepali Congress believes in the rule of law, and it abides by it. Therefore, it respects the decision of the Supreme Court. The Nepali Congress will move forward as per the decision of the Supreme Court,” he added.

NC leader Saud also claimed that not only Prime Minister KP Oli but former Prime Ministers including Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal and Deputy Prime Minister Bamdev Gautam were equally guilty in the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

He said that all these leaders should take the responsibility for the dissolution of the House.
