KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has clarified that none of the Justices involved in the hearing of the writ petition on the dissolution of the House of Representatives have met Prime Minister Oli.
“It is sad and regrettable that false, misleading, exaggerated, untrue and fictitious news is being disseminated which adversely affects the purity of the judiciary and public confidence in the court,” said SC Co-Spokesperson Devendra Dhakal, “Transmitting news with the ill intention of creating unnecessary confusion in the case under consideration in the court may jeopardize the credibility of the judiciary and the public’s faith in it and also the credibility of the press.”
The apex court has also warned that making false news is against the journalist code of conduct and law.
“Journalists should be aware of the legal implications of writing news in a way that is against the code of conduct and the law,” the apex court said.
Media reports had claimed that meetings were held between Prime Minister Oli and Justices hearing the case.
