Decision on MCC should be taken instantly: Energy Minister Rayamajhi

BUTWAL: Minister for Energy Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has said that a prompt decision should be taken on the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact.

“50 MW of energy will be surplus by May and 500 MW by August. In order to meet this challenge, a decision on MCC should be taken immediately,” said Minister Rayamajhi in an interaction in Butwal on Friday.

He stressed the need to take an immediate decision on whether to implement or reject the proposal as it is the project for the construction of the transmission line.

He indicated that it would be easier to construct a transmission line if MCC is implemented as there would be a lack of budget for construction.

Rayamajhi said that there would be a problem in streamlining the distribution of energy as the government is focused on election
