Health workers arrested after bribe sought for administering COVID-19 vaccine



KATHMANDU: Two health workers have been arrested for soliciting bribes for providing free vaccines against coronavirus.

According to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Ajay Kumar Shah, a health assistant working at Mahottari Health Post, had mobilized Krishna Kumar Yadav, a student, who demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the service recipient.

A CIAA team arrested him with the bribe from new bus park area of Janakpur Sub-Metropolis-7 on the basis of information that he had demanded bribe to administer the COVID-19 vaccine that is available free of cost, said CIAA Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Risal.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
