SC annuls interim order that reinstated lawmaker Thapa

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has quashed its own interim order issued to reinstate Rastriya Janamorcha Gandaki lawmaker Krishna Thapa as a provincial lawmaker.

After hearing on the writ petition against the interim order of the SC, the division bench of justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and Kumar Regmi annulled its former order that reinstated lawmaker Thapa.

The Rastriya Janamorcha had filed a ‘vacate’ petition against the SC’s order on June 9 demanding revocation of the interim order that had reinstated Thapa to the post till the final verdict.

Janamorcha had expelled lawmaker Thapa from the party and informed the province assembly secretariat alleging that he did not follow the party’s decision and whip. Thapa was then relieved of his post.

In the writ petition filed against him, the SC had issued an interim order not to implement the decision taken against him.

Rastriya Janamorcha, its Gandaki province parliamentary party, and the Speaker of Gandaki province assembly Speaker Netra Nath Adhikari had filed a petition against the interim order.
