Engina Karki held for impersonating a journalist, extorting money from cooperative



KATHMANDU: Engina Karki, a self-proclaimed journalist, has been arrested on fraud charges.

Karki was arrested from Basantapur on the charge of extorting money by blackmailing a financial institution, a police officer of the Metropolitan Police circle told Khabarhub.

He informed that she has been kept at Sohrakhutte Police Station. Police Inspector Santosh Kumar Khadka said an investigation was underway against Engina Karki. Similarly, Karki has been charged for swindling money from various people.

Police said that she was arrested after receiving a complaint that she had demanded money calling her a journalist. Police suspect that others may have been involved in the scam.
