General Naravane new Chief of Defense Staff of Indian Army



KATHMANDU: General Manoj Mukund Naravane has become the new Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) after General Bipin Rawat died in a helicopter crash on Wednesday.

After Rawat’s death, Air Marshal Bal Bhadra Radhakrishna, who was in the second rank, had been serving as acting CDS.

With the promotion of Naravane, the 27th Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) of the Indian Army, Lieutenant General Chandi Prasad Mohanty has been promoted to his post.

Born in Pune, India, Naravane, 61, is a member of the 7th Sikh Light Infantry Unit.
