No swearing in unless the President’s letter is redrafted: PM Deuba



KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has objected to the statement issued by President Bidya Devi Bhandari appointing him as the Prime Minister and has said that he will not swear in to office unless the letter is redrafted.

According to NC sources, Prime Mininster Deuba called Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi to his office and clarified that he would not swear in unless the President sends another letter specifying the Article of the Constitution.

Deuba objected to the President’s letter citing it has not mentioned the article under which the President has appointed him as PM.

Together with reinstating the House of Representatives, the Supreme Court, on its Monday verdict directed Office of the President to appoint NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister under Article 76 (5) of the Constitution.

Earlier, the President’s office had informed that the swearing in ceremony would take place at 6 PM.
