KATHMANDU: The Nepal-Khanal faction of the CPN-UML is holding a meeting to decide on whether to attend the Standing Committee (SC) meeting called at Baluwatar today afternoon.

UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Prime Minister of Nepal, has called an SC meeting after the Supreme Court issued a mandamus to appoint Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister.

The meeting is taking place at Baluwatar 1 pm, said UML Party Office Secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang.

The UML had also called a Central Committee meeting today but the time of the CC meeting will be fixed only following the SC meeting, said Tamang.

UML Deputy General Secretary Ghana Shyam Bhusal close to the Nepal-Khanal faction said the meeting will dwell on whether to attend the meeting or not.

“The  SC meeting has been called for today afternoon. We are discussing whether to attend the meeting or not,” said Bhusal.

A meeting of the UML Dispute Resolution Task-force on Sunday prepared a 10-pont consensus proposal on Sunday midnight.

Today’s SC meeting is likely to endorse the proposal. Even though the SC meeting was called for 5 pm Monday, it ended without entering into the formal agenda.
