SC keeps HoR dissolution case in ‘on-hearing’ status

Next hearing on Friday

KATHMANDU: Continuing the hearing on a writ petition filed in the Supreme Court (SC) against the dissolution of House of Representatives, the Constitutional Bench of Apex Court has kept the case in ‘on-hearing’ status on Wednesday.

The Constitutional Bench led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has set next hearing on the issue for Friday.

According to the SC sources, the advocates taking part on the hearing on behalf of the writ petitioner have demanded that the decision of the case should be taken by the full bench.

On behalf of the petitioners, former attorney general and advocates Raman Shrestha, Shambhu Thapa, Harihar Dahal, Dinesh Tripathi and Chandra Kanta Gyawali sought that the case should be decided by the extended full bench as it does not fall under the jurisdiction of the constitutional bench.

Similarly, Attorney General Agni Kharel and advocate Sushil Kumar Pant reiterated that the issue need not be taken to other benches and has to be settled by constitutional bench.

As the hearing on the case is not finished the hearing is scheduled for Friday.
