KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has provided national council membership to its 30 members.
Similarly, 96 members were provided memberships of the Kathmandu Valley province council by the election committee of the chapter on Sunday.
On the occasion, Senior Vice President of FNJ Ramesh Bista pointed out the need of media laws to make journalism more professional and dignified. FNJ central committee was holding a discussion with all sides to lobby for making better media laws.
Similarly, FNJ central member Shanta Ram Bidari viewed the small media should be protected well. Unity among all journalists and media persons is imperative to ensure rights to working journalists.
Kathmandu chapter chair of FNJ Surya Subedi viewed many media persons were forced to quit the profession due to COVID-19 pandemic. Information was provided that Kathmandu chapter of FNJ was conducting various creative programs in addition to promotion and protection of journalists’ rights.
