NIICE to organize Global Conclave on Connecting Nepal to the World

KATHMANDU: Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE) is organizing the three-day Global Conclave under the theme – Connecting Nepal to the World from June 25-27 this year.

The Conclave aims to bring the leaders, diplomats, business leaders and scholars from the region as well as the countries that matters to Nepal.

The conclave will be participated by Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Dinesh Gunawardena, Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Former Minister and Indian emissary to the G20 & G7, Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Former Minister of State for External Affairs, India, Dr. Abdulla Rasheed Ahmed, State Minister of Education, Maldives, Foreign Secretary of Sri Lanka Admiral Dr. Jayanath Colombage, Prof. Taniguchi Tomohiko, Special Adviser to PM Shinzo Abe (ret.) and several other dignitaries such as former foreign secretaries of India and Nepal, former Chief of Army Staff of India and Nepal, heads of think tanks and universities, experts and academicians.

The maximum participants are from Nepal, India, China and the United States with remarkable number of participants from Japan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, United Kingdom and Germany.

Khabarhub is the official media partner of the conclave and Radio Candid as the official radio partner of the conclave.

‘It is the first global conclave of NIICE, and it is the first of this nature and size held in Nepal”, says Dr. Pramod Jaiswal, Research Director of NIICE.

“The objective of the conclave is to introduce Nepal to the global stage and the debates on the emerging issues will help the Nepalese policy makers and experts to update themselves about the fast-changing geopolitics in the region”, said Dr. Jaiswal.

The Conclave will have around 200 participants from more than 30 countries. There will be discussions on Nepal’s Foreign Policy; Foreign Policy of India and China; Foreign Direct Investment and Foreign Aid to Nepal; Nepal’s Relations with India and China; Security of Siliguri Corridor; Future of Indo-Pacific Strategy; Rise of China; Rising Asia; Soft Power and Public Diplomacy; Nuclear Disarmament, Arms Control and Non-Proliferation; US Foreign Policy under Biden Administration; SAARC and BIMSTEC; Gender in International Relations; Impact of the Pandemic on Transnational Migration and several others.

The mega Conclave is supported by several reputed universities and think tanks of the world such as Jawaharlal Nehru University of India, Institute of South Asian Studies of National University of Singapore, and American University of US,

Likewise, other supporters include Elliott School of International Affairs of George Washington University, Fudan University of China, Chulalongkorn University of Thailand, University of Malaya of Malaysia, University of Cologne of Germany, United Service Institution of India, and Bangladesh Enterprise Institute.

Similarly, Romanian Institute for Europe Asia Studies of Romania, National Maritime Foundation of India, South Asia Democratic Forum of Belgium, Shenzhen University of China, Institute of National Security Studies of Sri Lanka and Bharat Center of Canada will also support the conclave.

Since the world is struggling with the pandemic, the conclave will be held through virtual platform and more than 10 thousands experts from around the world are expected to benefit from the discussion.
