39 candidates vying for 13 posts of office bearers



KATHMANDU: As many as 39 candidates have filed their candidacy for 13 key posts of ruling Nepali Congress in the ongoing 14th General Convention that kicked in Kathmandu on Friday.

According to NC Central Election Commission, six candidates, including Prime Minister and party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Prakash Man Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi, have registered their names for the top post of the party. Leaders Kalyan Gurung and Yuvaraj Neupane have also registered their candidacies for NC President.

Similarly, seven leaders Purna Bahadur Khadka, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, Dhanraj Gurung, Chandra Bhandari, Mahesh Acharya, Dibyashwori Sah and Sujata Koirala have nominated their names for the two posts of Vice-President of the party.

Likewise, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Pradeep Poudel, Dr. Minendra Rijal, Gagan Kumar Thapa, Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Rajaram Karki have filed nominations for the post of NC General Secretary. Six leaders are contesting for the two posts of General Secretary.

20 leaders, including Man Bahadur Bishwakarma, Badri Pandey, Farmullah Mansur, Surendra Prasad Chaudhary, Devraj Chalise, Ranjit Karna, Ram Krishna Yadav, Kamal Pant, Teju Lal Chaudhary, Kishore Singh Rathore, Bikas Lama, Jeevan Pariyar, Ganga Sunar, Mahendra Yadav, Bhishma Raj Angdambe, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, Chet Raj Badal, Shesh Wakil, Umakanta Chaudhary, and Dina Upadhya have registered their candidacies for the post of Joint General Secretary of the party.

NC has the provision of eight joint general secretaries.
