KATHMANDU: Agitating lawyers have warned they would bar Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana from entering his office tomorrow.

Lawyers said they would gather inside the premises of the Supreme Court at 10 am tomorrow and not allow CJ Rana to enter the court.

Nepal Bar President Shrestha Chandeswor Shrestha also accused the Chief Justice of promoting corruption in the judiciary.

The agitating lawyers staged a sit-in inside the court premises demanding the resignation of CJ Rana on Thursday.

Shrestha has also said that CJ Rana be relieved of his post.

Addressing a gathering on the premises of the Supreme Court Thursday, Chairman Shrestha accused Chief Justice Rana of becoming a kingpin behind the rampant corruption taking place in the Supreme Court.

He has also blamed Chief Justice for using security forces to intervene in the protests being staged peacefully by the Nepal Bar since October 31.

Accusing Chief Justice Rana of playing a lead role in the corruptions, disparities and irregularities taking place in the apex court, Shrestha said, “Chief Justice Rana should now be relieved of his post.”

Meanwhile, even though CJ Rana had formed a single bench and scheduled six cases, no hearings were done today.

Likewise, 19 SC justices have said they would not consider CJ Rana as their leader.

Tensions were high in the Supreme Court premises on Thursday as police intervened in a protest rally organized by the Nepal Bar Association.
