SAFF Championship: Nepal loses to India 0-1

KATHMANDU:  Nepal has lost to India in the SAFF Championship football tournament held in Male, the capital city of Maldives.

Held at the National Stadium in Male on Sunday night, India defeated Nepal 1-0. India’s captain Sunil Chhetri scored a decisive goal against Nepal in the 82nd minute of the match.

Drawn in the first half, Nepal could not score any goals despite some golden opportunities in the second half. With this win, India has climbed the third position with five points from three games.

This is the first defeat of Nepal. Nepal has notched up six points from three matches.

Nepal had defeated host Maldives by 1-0 in the first match and Sri Lanka by 3-2 in the second match.

Nepal, now, will lock horns with Bangladesh in the final match.
