Former Nepal Olympic Committee Chair Rana no more



KATHMANDU: Former chairperson of Nepal Olympic Committee Rukma Shamsher Rana has passed away. He was 85.

Rana passed away at 9:45 pm on Friday at his own residence in Battisputali, informed Anil Keshari Shah.

Rana had also served as Member Secretary of the National Sports Council, Chairman of the Nepal Olympic Committee and as Nepali Ambassador to India.

Rana is the son of Nepali Congress founder leader Subarna Shamsher Rana. Rana was born in Kolkata in 1936 while Subarna Shamsher was in exile.

His family has informed that his funeral rites will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat today.
