CPN-UML’s Nepal faction holding SC meeting today

KATHMANDU:  The Standing Committee (SC) members of the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of the restored CPN-UML are holding a meeting on Thursday.

According to a SC member, the meeting will dwell on the restructuring of the CPN-UML that was revived following the Supreme Court’s verdict.

The Central Committee (CC) members of the Nepal faction held a meeting yesterday. Today’s SC meeting will discuss the same agenda that was dwelled on in the CC meeting, said the leader.

Prior to the unification with the CPN (Maoist Center), the Nepal faction had 11 SC members. They are two senior leaders (Jhala Nath Khanal, Nepal), three vice chairpersons (Yuba Raj Gyawali, Asta Laxmi Shakya, Bhim Rawal), Deputy General Secretary Ghana Shyam Bhusal, three secretaries (Gokarna Bista, Bhim Acharya and Yogesh Bhattarai) and member Surendra Pandey.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is in minority in the SC since Vice Chairman Bam Dev Gautam is neutral and Bidya Bhandari is the President.

Other SC members of the Oli faction are General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel, Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Paudel, two secretaries (Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Prithvi Subba Gurung) and members Kiran Gurung, Chhabi Lal Bishwokarma and Shankar Pokharel.

Following the unification with the CPN (Maoist Center), four more members were added to the SC. Of them, Bishnu Rimal and Raghubir Mahaseth are in the Oli camp while Bedu Ram Bhusal and Raghuji Panta are in the Nepal camp.
