KATHMANDU: The total number of applicants seeking new driving license at the Transport Management Offices across the country has reached over 452,000 in the past two months, according to the Transport Management Office, Kathmandu.

The service recipients have filled up forms since January 13 this year to till date through transport management offices across the country to attend examination for driving license.

Information Officer at the Department, Pabitra Dangol, said the big volume of applications in the Transport Management Offices for the test of driving license is attributed to the halt in the application for nearly 10 months last year due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The government had adjourned the task of receiving applications for new driving license since mid-March last year while the application for new driving license was opened since mid-December 2020 in coordination between the office under the Province government and the Department under the federal government Dangol shared that flow in applications was high as applicants could apply online and at any time.

Earlier, the Department had opened up online registration of application in the certain time. It was difficult for the service recipients to fill up the forms at once due to over subscription.

She said that trouble in submitting application has been removed right now.

According to her, complaints on difficulty in registering application for license have gradually come down and there has been no any complaints lodged by the applicants regarding difficulties while applying online lately.

According to the new Constitution, responsibility regarding license has been shared between the federal and province governments.

The federal government had handed over the concerned offices to province government.
