KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has said Nepal will not use the India-China dispute for Nepal’s benefit.
“Nepal will not play cards against each other,” PM Oli said in an exclusive interview to India’s Zee News aired on Monday.
PM Oli said Nepal keeps a balanced relationship with its neighbors, adding that Nepal was always ready to mediate between India and China.
“Nepal will lose if there is tension between India and China,” PM Oli said adding that Nepal is always in favor of peace and development in the country and the region.
Talking about India-China tensions, he stated that Nepal has nothing to do with Galvan episode between India and China. “Both nations are our neighbors,” he added.
Prime Minister Oli said Nepal will not let anyone use its land or sky in the fight against anyone.
He added that the relationship between Nepal and India is based on equal sovereign countries, not that of a bigger and smaller nation. “India doesn’t consider itself as the boss,” he added.
PM Oli further hoped that the border dispute, particularly on the issue of Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipu Lekh, will be resolved based on evidence and mutual understanding with the Indian side.
Speaking on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Oli stated said,” PM Modi believes in equal relations but when I say that I am the Prime Minister equal to Modiji, people feel bad.”
