CCMC proposes closing schools and new public health protocols



KATHMANDU: COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) has proposed 11-point public health safety recommendations to curb the spread of coronavirus and its variants in the country.

A meeting chaired by CCMC Coordinator Ishwar Pokharel in Singha Durbar Saturday proposed new rules to stem the virus. The CCMC-proposed recommendation will be presented to the Cabinet for endorsement.

As per the CCMC recommendations, District COVID-19 Control Management Center (DCCMC) will see to it that educational institutions, where the new United Kingdom virus variant is found, run online classes.

The CCMC has stated that the new UK variant was increasingly found among school-going children in Kathmandu and Pokhara, among other places.

Likewise, DCCMC will ensure full compliance of health safety protocols at shopping malls, health clubs, swimming pools, religious sites, among other public places. DCCMC will carry out frequent inspections for strict enforcement of public health protocols.

Similarly, night business ought to close by 10 pm and travel to and from one local level to another will be subjected to virus transmission rate in the areas.

A monitoring committee led by Chief District Officer will be formed to carry out regular inspections to different places. The committee will have representatives of health office, security agencies and education development and coordination unit.

Among other provisions, CCMC reiterates establishing health desks at all entry points (land, air) and encourages use of masks, spaced-sitting in public vehicles.
