KATHMANDU: Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in several parts of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces today, while heatwave conditions are expected to persist in parts of the Tarai, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The Department has also forecast heavy rainfall in some hilly and mountainous areas tonight. Partly cloudy conditions are likely in the hilly region of Lumbini Province and the Tarai region of Madhesh Province, while the remaining Tarai areas are expected to experience mainly fair weather.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Similar conditions are expected at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.
Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is also likely at a few places in the Tarai region of Koshi Province and at one or two places in Madhesh Province.
Heatwave conditions are likely in some parts of the Tarai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, while hot day conditions may persist in parts of the Tarai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight, the weather will remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Other hilly and mountainous areas, as well as the Tarai region of Koshi Province, are expected to remain partly cloudy, while the rest of the Tarai will see mainly clear skies.
The Department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two places in the mountainous areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces. Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is also likely at a few locations in the Tarai region of Koshi Province.
According to the Department’s meteorological analysis, Nepal is currently under the partial influence of a western trough in the upper atmosphere, along with local and easterly wind systems.
