KATHMANDU: Spokesperson of the Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that Prime Minister KP Oli has no right to stay in power for even a second.

Addressing a mass meeting in the capital on Wednesday, Shrestha said his party is not against the election, but the election should be for the protection of democracy and the constitution.

Shrestha said PM Oli’s announcement of polls is not aimed at protecting the constitution, democracy and the achievements of the people.

“This is to enforce fascism and smear the achievements of the new constitution,” Shrestha added.

“I want to say that this election has not been announced to institutionalizing democracy,” he added.

He further stated that his party wants to reinstate the House of Representatives, repealing the unconstitutional appointments in the constitutional bodies and to protect and safeguard the constitution, federalism, and republicanism.

Stating that his party has been working towards spearheading a joint movement against the government, Shrestha ridiculed PM Oli for defending his moves to safeguard democracy and the constitution.
