KATHMANDU: Post tickets bearing the image of Rastrakavi Madhav Prasad Ghimire have been published in recognition to his contribution to Nepali literature.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, affixed the cancellation mark in honour of the late Rastrakavi Ghimire.
On the occasion Minister Karki said that poet Ghimire took Nepal’s national glory to a new height. Born in Lamjung on Asoj 7, 1976BS, Rastrakavi Ghimire had died on Bhadra 2, 2077BS.
Ghimire is known as the poet representing the trend of romanticism and revisionism. Ghimire was conferred on the title of ‘Rastrakavi’ in 2060BS.
At a programme on Wednesday, Minister Karki urged everyone to contribute from their sides to realize the dream the late Rastrakavi had, and the vision in his poems.
“Rastrakavi was loved by all. He was inspiring figure to all. He is eternal indeed,” he Minister Karki reminded, adding that postage stamp is therefore commemorative to the national luminary.
