NC Poudel faction’s CWC meet underway at Koirala residence in Maharajgunj

KATHMANDU: The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of leaders close to senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel is underway at party General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala’s residence in Maharajgunj Monday.

The Poudel faction is engaged in internal discussions as holding the party general convention on scheduled date seems unlikely. Senior leader Poudel blamed the NC leadership for not being able to hold the general convention on time.

The Poudel faction also held a meeting of NC district presidents, close to it, on Monday morning in Kathmandu and is holding discussions with central office-bearers and central members on general convention in the afternoon.

The meeting is being attended by senior leader Poudel, General Secretary Koirala, former General Secretary Prakash Man Singh and Treasurer Sita Devi Yadav, among others.

The schedule of the general convention slated for September 1-4 is already affected as the dispute concerning the active memberships and inclusion drags on.

The NC summoned the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting for August 12 to discuss about the upcoming general convention.

Earlier, Poudel faction proposed holding a special general convention to save the NC’s legal existence but party President Sher Bahadur Deuba declined the proposal.
