OJA objects to proposed press-related bills

KATHMANDU: The Online Journalists’ Association (OJA) has drawn attention of lawmakers and authorities concerned towards government attempt to table bills related to freedom of speech and expression, communication and information technology and press freedom in the House of Parliament (HoR).

Issuing a press release Friday, the association has stressed that the government’s attempt to table media-related bills at a time when political polarization and differences is at its peak is unwarranted.

The association is of the view that the passage of such bills without amending restrictive clauses or conducting adequate deliberation on them should not take place.
