CJ Rana assigns six benches for today amidst protests

KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has scheduled seven writ petitions for hearing today amidst protests.

Chief Justice Rana has assigned six benches to hear seven cases, according to the Supreme Court (SC). Of them two benches will be single while the remaining four benches will be joint ones.

It is learnt that all the cases scheduled for hearing today are related to habeas corpus.

Meanwhile, the advocated associated with the Nepal Bar Association have announced to launch stringent protests against Rana from today.

They had on Sunday announced to boycott the benches assigned by Rana.

Floating nine reasons why Chief Justice Rana should step down, they have warned that they will launch stringent protests starting today.

On Wednesday, the Nepal Bar had given an ultimatum to Rana to resign on the moral ground.
