Man dies in Police custody in Sindhupalchok

CHAUTARA: One person held in custody in Sindhupalchowk has died on Friday.

According to SP Rajan Adhikari, District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, Khadka Bahadur Tamang, 35, of Barhabise-7, who was taken into custody on a theft charge, died on Friday morning.

Tamang was accused of stealing Rs 100,000 from a person and Rs 81,725 from a cooperative. He was held on police custody on August 2.

Dhulikhel Hospital declared him dead on Friday morning.

According to police, he had been ill since the beginning.

‘He has been ill since the day he was arrested. He was bleeding from his nose when he was arrested. We kept him at the health post that day. He has been taken to the hospital every day since then, ‘said DSP Dakshya Basnet.

Basnet informed that Tamang was rushed to health post that day as well from where he was again sent to Dhulikhel Hospital.

Tamang’s body has been taken to Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj for postmortem.

His postmortem will be held today, police said.

According to the police, Tamang’s family was also informed that Tamang was ill.

Police have launched further investigation in this regard.
