33 kg gold case: Agrawal of ‘Gore’ group released on bail

KATHMANDU: The District Court, Morang, has ordered the release of Krishna Gopal Agrawal, who was involved in 33 gold smuggling cases that went missing outside the Tribhuvan International Airport few years back on bail on Tuesday.

A bench of Justice Bharat Lamsal on Monday ordered Agrawal’s release on Rs 200,000 bail.

Earlier, Interpol had issued a red corner notice against him on July 24, 2018. Agrawal, 50, of Shivgunj VDC-1 in Jhapa was brought to Kathmandu from Dubai with the help of Interpol.

After being brought to Kathmandu from Dubai, he was sent to Morang.

Agrawal is accused of being involved in illegal smuggling and export of gold, abduction and hostage-taking.

According to the police, Chudamani Upreti, also known as Gore, was made the main accused in the case of smuggling 33 kg of gold in the complaint of Sanjiv Shakya.
