New budget in Sudurpaschim to focus on COVID-19 recovery

KATHMANDU: The Sudurpaschim Province government is preparing to unveil new budget for the fiscal year 2021/22 aimed at reducing the multi-thronged effects of COVID-19 pandemic.

In a pre-budget discussion at the Province Assembly (PA) meeting Monday, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Prakash Bahadur Shah said that the new budget would give top priority for the revival of the COVID-hit economy and to reduce its impact. He stated that the new budget would prioritize quality health care along with infrastructure development, economic subsidy along with support, employment generation, modernization of agriculture, youth-targeted programs and implementation of the province infrastructure projects.

Nepalis rendered jobless at home and abroad (due to COVID-19) would be prioritized for job with a special focus.

Also speaking in the meeting, Nepali Congress Province Assembly member Bharat Bahadur Khadka took exception to the recent statements made by Deputy Prime Minister Rajendra Mahato and urged him to withdraw it.
