HoR session adjourned till 1 PM Wednesday

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the reinstated House of Representatives (HoR) has been adjourned till 1 pm on Wednesday as the main opposition parties Nepali Congress and Janata Samajwadi Party obstructed the session.

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota adjourned the House pasting a notice.

On Sunday, the Nepal Communist Party led by Prachanda-Nepal faction of Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal boycotted the session.

Likewise, the Nepali Congress party also gheraoed the rostrum protesting the ordinance on the Constitutional Council.

NC lawmakers chanted slogans demanding that the ordinance on the Constitutional Council brought against the spirit of the constitution be repealed.

Earlier, Speaker Sapkota had adjourned the session for 10 minutes after the NC lawmakers and obstructed the session.

Likewise, the Prachanda-Nepal faction led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Madhav Kumar Nepal of the Nepal Communist Party, boycotted Sunday’s session of the reinstated House of Representatives.

They argued that since the government has lost its validity, they would not participate in the session where the “illegitimate” government would table ordinances.

Earlier, lawmaker Bhim Rawal of the Prachanda-Nepal faction questioned the relevance of the government since the Supreme Court had annulled the Nepal Communist Party.
