Amar Singh Pun from Poudel group elected president in Lumbini Pradesh



KATHMANDU: Amar Singh Pun has been elected as the president of Lumbini Pradesh under the party’s 14th general convention of Nepali Congress.

Pun is from the senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel faction.

According to Election Committee member Abdul Rehman, Pun’s closest rival Bharat Kumar Shah from Sher Bahadur Deuba’s group has been defeated.

Raju Khanal and Bhuwan Shrestha have been elected as the deputy presidents, while Bikram Khanal and Surendra Acharya have been elected as the general secretaries.

Similarly, Bishnu Prasad Khanal, Khagraj Pandey and Nima Giri have been elected as deputy general secretaries.

Though voting for the state leadership took place on Saturday, counting of votes started from Sunday morning.

A total of 1,631 votes were cast in the election.
