According to sources, with the completion of construction of 220 KV double circuit transmission line (Inaruwa-Basantapur-Baneshwor-Tumlingtar), the transmission line has been handed over to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

Amidst a program organized at Hile in Dhankuta on Wednesday, India’s Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited handed over the project to the NEA.

The 106 km long transmission line has been constructed at a cost of Rs 10.40 billion. The transmission line has been constructed under the US $ 550 million loan provided by the Government of India to Nepal through Exim Bank.

India’s Kalpatru Power Transmission Limited had undertaken the construction of the first package of the project at a cost of Rs 4.5 billion.

Successful completion of both packages will ensure smooth distribution of about two thousand megawatts of electricity generated from the Arun and the Tamor river hydropower projects.
